Hapag-Lloyd, a well-known shipping company, has set a new standard in logistics with the launch of its breakthrough container tracking device, “Live Position.”
This unique product represents a key milestone as the world’s first shipping line to use Internet of Things (IoT) technology on a big scale in the sector.
With “Live Position,” clients now have unprecedented visibility over the whereabouts of their shipments, from the start of transportation to their final destination.
The program solves the long-standing issue of “blind spots” in global logistics by providing customers with real-time information that enables informed decision-making and risk management.
Dr. Maximilian Rothkopf, Hapag-Lloyd’s Chief Operating Officer, emphasizes the transformative impact of “Live Position,” stating that it closes the blind spots of global logistics, allowing real-time decision-making and risk mitigation for the customers while enabling more efficient navigation of Hapag Lloyd’s fleet of containers.
Head of Global Commercial Development, Henrik Schilling, emphasizes the customer-centric strategy guiding the product’s development.
He adds, “Participants in our successful pilot phase have already acknowledged that we are going the additional mile to alleviate one of their primary concerns. We want to take all our consumers on this trip to help develop this product.”
“Live Position” has a user-friendly design and straightforward search functionality, allowing clients to easily track their shipments by container, booking number, or batch.
This streamlined solution gives users real-time updates on their shipment’s current location, allowing for quick modifications as needed.
Hapag-Lloyd’s commitment to continuous improvement can be seen in constant product enhancements.
Plans are made to seamlessly integrate tracking data into customers’ operating systems via API, increasing efficiency and convenience.
Implementing the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) Prediction feature will mark a significant milestone in advancing “Live Position.”
