The Cambodian-flagged bulk carrier Vamos ran aground off Kastamonu province on the Black Sea coast of Türkiye due to a storm. There were 11 sailors on board, including two Turkish citizens, allmarinenws informs via TASS.
Rescuers began evacuating the cargo ship’s crew on Monday morning, but it was complicated by strong winds.
According to the Turkish Coast Guard, the engine of the motor ship Kevalay Queen, flying the flag of Libya, also failed at the exit from the Bosphorus to the Sea of Marmara, as a result the vessel began to drift toward the shore. The 147-meter vessel was towed to the Ahirkapi anchorage.
Türkiye's Emergency Department declared yellow and orange weather alerts for almost a third of the country on Monday. Hurricanes, downpours and possible flooding are expected.
